I’m planning a trip from San Diego to Peoria, Az. Peoria to the Grand Canyon, Az then the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. I’m looking for things to do in between those places, any ideas?
Without a doubt check out Sedona. Jerome is a crazy little biker town perched on the side of a mtn. I live in Flagstaff and its a great town to check out for tourist. From Peoria you could go to Prescott then over the hill to Jerome then cruz over to Sedona and on up to Flag. It would be a great one day drive, although Sedona and Flagstaff are cool enough to spend a day in by themselves. Flagstaff more resembles a Colorado mining town and most people don’t think of this type of terrain when the think of Arizona. Flag is at 7000ft elevation and the San Fransisco peaks reach 12,400ft. The above answer has a good suggestion, if it is summer do take the ski lift to the top of Arizona Snow bowl. The views are great. If you go to Sedona check out the church in the red rocks and at least one of the Vortexes(crazy magnetic fields unlike no other place on earth). On the way to Vegas just past Kingman there is a creepy little town in the middle of the desert where it is "always Christmas", its a weird place to be at 3am. Lake mead has great cool deep blue water that is a dream to swim in if it is the summer time. At the Grand Canyon check out Havasu Falls. It takes some hiking to get to but the water fall is a beautiful blue green and pours into a other worldly torques pond that makes for great swimming. Hope that helps.
i am getting prepared to have a baby in september and am planning on delivering at St. Rose Hospital at the rose de lima campus off boulder highway and lake mead. i was just curious as to everyones opinions about this hospital if you have delivered there. some people cant say enough good things about this hospital and there are others who hate it just as much. i am just curious what the overall opinion was. also i heard a rumor from someone who just loved the hospital that after delivery you are served some kind of a big feast. with steak and lobster and what not. i find this hard to believe (i can only hope lobster will be served :] …) and was wondering if anyone can clear up this rumor.
i’ve heard the same thing about being treated like royalty after giving birth there. i’ve had experience with several family members hospitalized there and i was very impressed, the care is exceptional, they’re very caring and professional. you should call them to find out what they’re birthing program is.
Im going to Las Vegas in December and want to do one of the Area 51 tours. Does anyone have any recommendations of who is the best to go with as there are so many when you look online?
Thanks
Is it worth going to visit ? My fiance has always had a facination with going there - but I cant see that there is going to be much to see as as people say its restricted??
The military facility at Groom Lake (area 51) is restricted. You will NOT be allowed on the base, and if you manage to wander onto their property you will be detained and arrested. They have a VERY sophisticated security system to detect intruders. There really isn’t much to see there anyway. It’s just an airfield with a few warehouse type buildings.
My friend told me to waith until midnight to leave if I don’t want to deal with horrible traffic. He’s a truck driver so he’s traveled that route alot but he’s also pretty dramatic. So should I listen to him or leave earlier? We live in Oklahoma and the worst traffic we’ve driven in is in Houston Texas.
I’m not traveling until March 17th.
From Las Vegas to San Diego has always been an easy trip for us. Leaving on a Mon thru Thurs, we have breakfast at our hotel and leave Vegas around 10am. Never have had really bad traffic.
It’s going the other way that we have to be more careful.
I am based at Indianapolis and plan to visit LA Las Vegas and Grand Canyon in the 4 day long weekend in thanks giving .
You know that the trip to Grand Canyon takes an entire day unless you take a helicopter down?
Check www.lasvegasnow.com for ideas but I would suggest you join the Players Club where you are staying for the chance of earning comps/freebies. You should see at least one Cirque show OR Phantom of the Opera OR Jersey Boys OR Mamma Mia. Enjoy a buffet, leisurely. Go outside and see the lights the first night you are there.
Realize that day one when you arrive the majority of the day is gone and the same for the day you leave, which would then only give you two full days, one of which would be Grand Canyon.
The idea of Vegas is to relax, not be schedule to the hilt.
Good luck
